Areas of Interest

Dr. Johnson's academic achievements began at the University of Georgia in Athens, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and molecular biology. He then earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.

Following medical school, Dr. Johnson completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham's (UAB) Tinsley Harrison Internal Medicine Residency Program. He further specialized in gastroenterology and hepatology through a fellowship at UAB.

Throughout his education and training, Dr. Johnson has received recognition for his academic excellence and research contributions. He was awarded the Zell Miller Full Tuition Scholarship and achieved second place in two regional events focused on research and medical education.

Dr. Johnson is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American College of Gastroenterology. He has a special interest in medical education and graduated from the Clinician-Educator Track program in his internal medicine residency.

In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Johnson has contributed to various research projects, with his work showcased at numerous regional and national conferences, including multiple award-winning presentations. His research has also been published in the peer-reviewed journal Endoscopy.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Dr. Johnson is dedicated to community service, having mentored economically disadvantaged children and volunteered at a health center clinic. He enjoys recreational sports and reading science fiction and fantasy novels.

Dr. Johnson joined Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 2024.
