Dr. Ali earned his Bachelor of Science in finance and business management, with a minor in chemistry, from Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating cum laude. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from the American University of Antigua College of Medicine, graduating magna cum laude, and furthered his education with a Master of Science in clinical research and epidemiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. 

Dr. Ali completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he served as chief resident, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology, with specialized training in advanced endoscopy. His training has positioned him as an expert in diagnosing and treating advanced gastrointestinal and pancreatic conditions. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Ali has received numerous awards, including the Outstanding Achievement and Excellence Award and the Outstanding Service Award during his master's program, and a nomination for Physician of the Year during his residency. His commitment to advancing gastrointestinal care is reflected in his clinical research on topics such as Crohn’s disease, advanced endoscopy, and the link between obesity and colorectal adenomas. His work has been published in leading medical journals and presented at prestigious national conferences such as Digestive Disease Week and the American College of Gastroenterology. 

Beyond his clinical and research contributions, Dr. Ali is deeply committed to global health initiatives. He has been actively involved in the Rwanda Endoscopy Society, a collaborative effort to provide free gastrointestinal care and train local physicians in advanced endoscopic techniques. Additionally, he has worked with Shine Humanity, a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering free medical care and raising funds to support healthcare needs in underserved communities worldwide. Dr. Ali is also an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.  

Dr. Ali joined Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 2025.

The field’s use of advanced technology, like interventional endoscopic ultrasound, ERCP and Artificial Intelligence, allows for precise diagnoses, with less- invasive impactful treatments. I’m inspired by the opportunity to care for patients while staying at the forefront of innovation in medicine.
